In this talk, John Wilks draws on his extensive experience of working with mothers and babies and bring together some of the elements that help support mums and babies in the therapy room towards a successful resolution and integration of their pregnancy and birth journey.

Experiences of pregnancy and birth form strengths and resources to be taken forward into adulthood but they also have the potential to create ‘dis-ease’ and disease states both physically and psychologically. The issues discussed here range from emotional, psychological and developmental to the physical. From clinical experience, impacts from pregnancy and birth affect every aspect of someone’s life if not addressed and therapists are in an ideal situation to make a positive contribution to the life-long health of both babies and their mothers and future generations.
