Immaturities within the Central Nervous System

Why Retained Baby Reflexes Matter

with Jacqui Ellis
As humans, we are born extremely immature, especially compared with with other mammals. However, we do arrive with a set of primary reflexes that enable us to survive the first year of life. Nature invites us to go through a developmental ‘Gym’ programme where we play catch-up. But what happens if an infant misses some of these important milestones?

In this presentation, Developmental Trauma Specialist Jacqui Ellis introduces some of the key primary reflexes and explain how their underdevelopment - versus their continued presence - can impact higher brain development and learning.
